Day 16: Practicing shapes with Easter Chick - Getting ready for Easter - part 4

Updated: Apr 10, 2020

Perth, April 7 2020

Today my daughter expressed an interest in crafting birds again, like the dove. So, to do something different, we decided to go with a chick (isn't it cute in the picture?). We took this as an opportunity to practice the shapes we learnt a few days ago.

So, here is the materials we needed. Basically rubbish :-D. Good that I never throw away anything...

We used a cup to draw a circle on a carton and on a piece of yellow paper. We covered the carton with the yellow cut using glue.

Then we used two semicircles and coloured them in yellow to make wings.

We cut an orange triangle to make the beak.

We cut a big white semicircle (using the shape of the cup) and used it to make the egg.

We assembled all together, as shown in the first two pictures.

We decorated it with eyes, flowers, grass etc.

The Easter bunny is going to leave a chocolate egg in there. As it's not an Italian tradition, and being the first time the Easter bunny visits our house, we are not quite sure yet where to leave the box for him to drop our treat... I'll keep you posted on that!

Learning outcomes:

Shape awareness

Fine motor skills

Materials: as in picture.
