Day 27 of #covid19 #socialdistance
Today we crafted My Little Ponies. It was a long procedure that required waiting and patience and breaking the work into many small tasks.
First, we did the colours: white+blue; white+red+yellow(very little)+blue(very little). Then we cut 4 wing shapes and 2 head shapes from the top part of egg carton. We painted the toilet rolls and then the wings and heads, one side only, and put them to dry.
Once dried, we painted the other side of wings and heads. We cut 4 wood sticks (from Officeworks), 2 blue and 2 red/pink to make 2 sets of 4 legs. Then we used glue to fix the legs: first at one side, let them dry, and then at the other side.
We used coloured paper to decorate heads and make tail. We made the eyes and fixed them to the heads, both sides.
We cut the roll a bit to put the pony neck into it, as shown in picture. A better idea would be to make the neck very long so that it can get fixed to the roll on the top and the bottom, to make the head more stable.
When everything was dried, we put then the wings up and.... yey! Rainbow Dash and Pinky Pie!
It took us all day, we needed a lot of patience but the outcomes paid us back!
Learning outcomes:
fine motor skills
task menagement
Materials: colours, glue, coloured papers, toilet rolls, cartons (any carton is ok providing you can paint it both sides and it's hard enough to stay flat while paint dries), coloured wood sticks (can use coloured carton if carton hard and thick enough to hold the body).
