Day 29 of #covid19 #socialdistance
Today was for recognising, reproducing and creating patterns in various different ways, to develop some maths and pre-writing skills. There are hips of documentations on why these skills are important and how to help your children having fun while engaging into develop them. Part of this activity was suggested by our daycare (that related to the pre-writing skills), part was found here (https://www.pre-kpages.com/patterns/) and part came out of our minds.
We enjoyed a lot playing with lids & toilet rolls. We used them as building blocks, but we also used them to create patterns. I started a pattern and asked my daughter to complete it, e.g. 1 lid up and 1 lid upside dow, or one blue - two red - one blue etc. This kept her busy for a while.
Then we moved to paper, I drew patterns and she drew the pattern on top of mine or next to it. I made some patterns in a way she had to fill it with colours, others I started and asked her to continue. This also kept her engaged for a while.
Finally, we built patterns with building blocks. She loved it. Another idea, perhaps for another day, is to use stickers.
