Day 35 of #covid19 #socialdistancing
Today we realised our first comic strip, about Covid19 virus. Wile drawing and colouring in, we learnt how the virus is made, and why washing hands with soap is so important.
Soap basically destroys the virus membrane and so the virus dies (it's a bit like if we had to leave without our skin, except the virus' inside is a lot more liquid then ours).
We imagined how that could happen, and we came up with soap holding a sword and bubbles eating the virus' membrane. So we told the story with sequences of pictures. We also understood more clearly why washing hands with soap is so important.

We highlighted the main components: proteins, lipids (grease) and RNA (what makes the virus being so bad).
The science (chemistry, my favourite) behind soap destroying the virus' membrane is explained in many basic textbooks, and it's the same as the science behind soap cleaning grease. With a 3 yo I didn't get into these details. Here a good link:
