Day 23 of #covid19 #socialdistance.
Today we worked a bit on improving our emotional intelligence. As mentioned in day 20, being 5 people locked in a 3 bedroom house is at times frustrating.
Therefore, we decided to draw the main emotions, each one with a different colour.
We practiced shape awareness as we noticed all faces can be drawn as circles. We also practiced some letter/sound recognition.
It is very rewarding to see how my daughter's drawing and colouring skills, and fine motor skills more broadly, are progressing day after day since we started The House of Fun project together, 3 weeks ago.
After we finished, we sat on the couch and we watched our drawings one by one and thought of times we felt that way in the past few days.
We also read "Sometimes I feel sunny" (Gillian Shields) and "The colour monster" (Anna Llenas) that are very good books about emotional intelligence.
Not sure whether it's because of this activity, but I explained everyone in our family (except my daughter) is tired after lunch and needs a rest. That's why we always ask her to do some quiet time alone, with puzzles or books or quiet lonely games. Today we didn't hear her at all for a good hour after lunch.
Learning outcomes:
emotional intelligence
shape awareness
writing skills
